"Friday the Dorkteenth"

Dorkbloggers is having a contest, and you can read about it here

Click here: DorkBloggers-Come to the Dork Side...: The time has come to GET YOUR DORK ON!

(And although  Andy the Bastard  once left a comment on my journal that mentioned Aonther definition of 'dork'...which is,um....'a part of a whale',lol, to put it 'p.c.'.....I believe This definition is closer to what Dorkbloggers is about...............

dork \dork\ (d[^o]rk), n.
    1. a person who is stupid, socially inept, or ridiculous; )

While it was difficult for me to pick out only ONE 'dorky' entry to submit for the contest (as the love of my life put it "there are So MANY"...oohhh,"harsh",LOL)

I finally decided that the 'dorky moment' that I first mentioned as part of a post here in 2006 is one of my Most Dorky Moments.

So, for your reading pleasure:) here is my submission for "Friday the Dorkteenth" (and as soon as I figure out how they are doing the voting, I'll pass that along!)

I had previously had an experience where I hit the metal 'Children's Miracle Network' donation thing at the Dairy Queen drive-thru window while pulling up to pay, and thought I was the only person who'd ever done this.

However, I was very excited the other day to meet someone else who'd done the same thing!I went home from Subways(which is next to Dairy Queen) and told my boyfriend"Hey, I met someone else who hit the donation thing at the drive-thru window at Dairy Queen!"

He asked me,"Exactly HOW would this subject ever come up in the first place?"

I said"well, when I was in Subways, I was reading the menu on the board and walking sideways at the same time(doing 2 things at once again, when will I learn?) and I sort of bumped into the chips display and it kind of got caught on my jeans pocket for a second.....and then the poor kid behind the counter tried to stifle a laugh,so I looked at him and said 'yeah, I am a dork' .

(The boyfriend said,"I'm not sure you needed to tell him that, he might have already figured that out!")

and I went on to tell the kid...'not too long ago I ran into the Children's Miracle network donation thing while pulling up to the drive thru over at Dairy Queen" and the kid told me 'Oh, I've done that!"

and I was just so HAPPY to learn that someone else had done it!

Well, both my boyfriend and my daughter were convulsed with laughter while I was happily telling them this story, and then my boyfriend finally managed to gasp out....."the picture of you walking thru Subways with the chips display attached to you, in my head!"......and doubled over laughing again. And I said "Hey! It was only caught on my jeans pocket for just a second!"

I emailed this story to my family(who are used to stories like this ) and my MOM emailed back later in the day and said "This is hysterical.I keep rereading this just to laugh."(which I thought mothers were supposed to be a little more sympathetic?lol)

-----------------

(well, that's my submission, hope you enjoy it! and for further evidence of dorkiness, I really have no idea whatsoever as to a) why my fonts changed in the middle of the post and b)why I can't put all of the post in the same color!:)

Yay!  There's a commercial for insurance where she leans over to get something for the parking toll and her foot slips off the brake and she takes the whole thing out.  I always turn to the honey and tell him that they made that commercial for me.  I haven't done it yet, but I know it's a matter of time, because it is EXACTLY the kind of thing I would do.
Thanks for playing--We'll put up a poll for people to vote once we get all of the entries in.

I once backed into one of those BIG post-office mailboxes that the put in townhouse neighborhoods....... only damaged the vehicle (phew).   Some things just aren't placed in good locations, right?!

Hi Kathi,
Seems to me that I make big blunders and screw ups every time I deviate from my "prime directive"--- "doing this BY THE BOOK !!"   You must know this:  there's the right way, the wrong way, and the ARMY way....   When ever I take a shortcut--something bad happens sooner or latter.
I love your blog!

Kathi,
No matter how bad a day I might be having, your posts ALWAYS put me back on track to happiness!!!
I have several "dork" stories myself to share but I'll just enclose one so you know there are "others" out there who suffer from severe dorkiness.

When I first moved to the "HILL CITY", I asked my dad if he could drive me around to a few places while job hunting.  No problem, you know, what are dads for??? :)

Somehow, not once, but TWICE........oh, I'm so embarrassed to bring this up again............I managed to shut my head in the car door.  Both times, I pulled the door too quickly while trying to sit down after getting in the car and my head was still not all the way in.  I blamed it on transitioning to a car from a big old RamCharger that required alot of pulling sometimes to get the door closed....

Anyway, I enjoyed your Subway story!! :)

That sounds like me... I'm always knocking stuff over. My husband doesn't bother to look in the direction of the racket because he says he knows that it is me. Greta entry!
